Who You Will Work With
Platte Valley Tree Co. is four people based in Columbus, Nebraska. Whoever bids your tree usually cuts it, and whoever picks up the phone knows this week's schedule. None of us commutes in; we live in Platte County, and most of us grew up here.
Owner & Climber
Wade grew up on a row-crop and cattle farm north of Platte Center and spent four seasons on a utility line-clearance crew across Platte, Colfax and Butler counties, plus two winters of storm cleanup, working under energized lines through summer wind and January ice, before starting the company in 2016 with a bucket truck, a chipper and a stump grinder. He still lives in Columbus, still climbs, still handles the technical takedowns beside houses and service drops, and still looks at most jobs himself before they go on the calendar.
Estimates & Scheduling
Jenna is usually the first voice you hear when you call. She sets up the estimate visit, gets the written price to you, asks the questions that tell us whether your tree is on the boulevard and needs a Public Works permit before we can touch it, and keeps the calendar straight after a storm, when the phone rings faster than the crew can get to the jobs. Ask her when the truck is coming; she will know.
Crew Lead & Equipment
Miguel runs the equipment: the bucket truck, the chipper, the stump grinder, and the clearing gear on shelterbelt and pasture-edge jobs. On a removal near a structure he sets the rigging and works the ground while Wade or Cody is in the tree, and he is the reason the yard is clean when the truck pulls out.
Climber / Groundman
Cody climbs the trees the bucket cannot reach, like the big cottonwoods in the back corner of an older Columbus lot or the walnuts and hackberries standing along the Loup behind a farmhouse, and works the ground on everything else: rope work, sectioning trunks, feeding the chipper, and hauling brush.
