Clarkson is a city of about 640 people in northern Colfax County, Nebraska, 31.7 road miles and about 47 minutes northeast of Columbus, three miles west of the NE-15 and NE-91 junction. Platted in 1886 once a rail line was certain, it is named for postal official T. S. Clarkson.

Czech heritage shows everywhere: an opera house, a historical museum, the Bohemian National Garden and a Czech festival each June. Creek draws of bur oak, hackberry and cottonwood cut the rolling fields, town yards hold silver maple and Siberian elm, and redcedar and Scotch pine windbreaks are dying of pine wilt. It is our longest drive.
