Tree Removal in the Northeast Corner at Creston, NE

Creston is a village of about 180 people in the northeast corner of Platte County, Nebraska, 21.9 road miles and about 32 minutes from Columbus by county roads. Laid out in 1886 when the railroad came and incorporated in 1890, it was named for its high ground at about 1,620 feet and built up mainly by German families.

Farmsteads stand a mile apart, each with a windbreak of old redcedar and Scotch pine now dying of age and pine wilt. Yards run to silver maple, Siberian elm, hackberry and dead ash. Lots are big, so a call here is often a whole fence line, and there is no trip charge.

Why Folks in Creston Call Us

Thirty-Two Minutes by County Road

No highway goes straight to Creston, so it is a back-road trip. Jenna groups it with Humphrey and Leigh work so the estimate date stays quick, and it is still Platte County, so there is no trip charge.

Windbreaks, Not Single Trees

Most Creston calls are about a shelterbelt: a row of dead pine, cedar crowding the drive, a windbreak that needs renewing. Miguel runs the skid steer, we keep the sound trees, and the brush is chipped on site.

High Ground, Full Wind

Creston sits on high, open ground with nothing to break a northwest wind or a summer straight-line gust. We look for cracked leaders and lifted root plates before storm season and tell you what is sound.

Village Ordinances, Rural Fire District

Creston is an incorporated village with its own ordinances, so a tree over a village street means a call to the village office. A tree on your own lot is your decision; on the farms, a brush pile needs a burn permit from the rural fire district first.

Quick Creston Answers

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Creston?

Not for a tree standing wholly on your own lot. Creston keeps its own ordinances, so before cutting near a public street we check with the town office. More on our permits page.
