Fullerton, NE: Where the Cedar Meets the Loup

Fullerton is the Nance County seat, a city of about 1,240 people 38.2 road miles and about 49 minutes west of Columbus through Genoa, where NE-14 meets NE-22 and the Cedar River joins the Loup. The land was part of the Pawnee Reservation from 1857.

Platted around 1878, the town is named for Randall Fuller, who bought reservation land when it sold and gave some for public use. The Loup Power canal headworks lie between here and Genoa. Both river bottoms grow cottonwood, walnut and willow, and the older streets have silver maple, hackberry, Siberian elm and dead ash.
